How Do I Join the Church?
How do I become a member of North Island Baptist Church?
At the conclusion of the worship service, you will be invited to come to the front of the church and speak to the pastor regarding any decision the Lord is directing you to make. When you speak to the pastor, simply say that you would like to become a member of the church.
Are there prerequisites for church membership?
Yes. The Bible teaches that to be a member of our local church you must be a baptized believer in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41). The pastor will assist you in scheduling baptism if it is desired.
What if I am not Southern Baptist? Can I still join North Island Baptist?
Yes. All are welcome to join regardless of past denominational affiliations. The priority is faith in Christ and baptism by immersion.
Are there different ways to join North Island Baptist?
Yes. There are several ways that people may join.
1. Profession of Faith and Baptism: For one making a public profession of faith in Christ for the first time (new believer). The new believer is instructed to follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. Their status as a member candidate is not changed to active member until they have been baptized.
2. Baptism: For one who has made a prior profession of faith but has not been Scripturally baptized after receiving Christ. Their status as a member candidate is not changed to active member until they have been baptized.
3. Statement of Faith: For one who is not presently a member of another Southern Baptist church but professes faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and has been baptized by immersion as an act of obedience and public profession of faith.
4. Letter of Transfer (from a Southern Baptist church): For one who is presently a member of another Southern Baptist church. A letter initiated by North Island Baptist Church to the membership applicant’s former church notifies them of the request for a transfer. Their status as a member candidate is not changed to active member until the letter has been received from their previous church.
If I become a member of North Island Baptist, what is expected of me?

We trust that you will seek to be regular in attendance in worship services and in a Sunday morning Bible study class. “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:24-25).
